GPOBA Annual Report 2010 |
GPOBA’s Annual Report 2010 reports that there is progress on wider adoption of output-based aid. GPOBA has continued to develop its portfolio, which now includes 31 schemes for a total of US$124.9 million, expected to benefit around 6.5 million people in 23 countries worldwide. In fiscal year 2010, four new grant agreements were signed and the number of people benefiting from GPOBA pilots rose to 755,000, up from 423,000 a year ago.

| Output-Based Aid for Sustainable Sanitation |
In September, GPOBA published a new working paper in collaboration with the Water and Sanitation Program (WSP), to explore how OBA could be used to increase sustainable access to sanitation services. The study was presented at World Water Week in Stockholm, where researchers, students, policy makers, and other international stakeholders gathered to share new findings on hygiene, sanitation, and water.

GPOBA Subsidy Schemes Delivering Results |
Two GPOBA pilots that completed their activities in fiscal year 10 are showing the potential of results-based approaches to help the poor gain access to essential services like water, electricity and healthcare. In India, GPOBA-funded water purification plants provided safe drinking water to over 77, 000 poor inhabitants of the coastal area of Andhra Pradesh.
