| Activity Objectives: | This project will lead to direct connections and affordable access to electricity in rural areas of Bolivia. The Project’s objectives are to: (a) install 7000 Solar Home Systems (SHS) and 2000 Pico-PV systems to extend electricity access to households, schools, clinics and micro & small enterprises (MSEs) in remote and dispersed rural areas (benefiting some 35,000 Bolivian citizens), (b) develop and consolidate a mechanism for electrification of remote and dispersed households using a new form of public-private partnership (PPP) with innovative, output-based “medium-term service contracts” for the provision of electricity with decentralized, renewable technologies under the Government’s new Universal Access Policy. |
