Activity Objectives:

Technical assistance funds have been provided for the design on an output-based (OB) IDA emergency operation in support of Cambodia’s recovery efforts after the Ketsana typhoon in late September 2009. The engagement of a consultant to undertake a preparation and pre-appraisal exercise for a prospective IDA emergency operation in the Northern Provinces of Cambodia will result in an appropriate OB scheme design, including supporting documentation.

Development Impact:

The outcome of the consultant's pre-appraisal and design exercise will inform a prospective IDA emergency response that addresses the needs of poor communities affected by Typhoon Ketsana.

GPOBA's role:

GPOBA support will help to inform the implementation actions of the Government in respect of a series of performance-based reconstruction, rehabilitation and maintenance contracts for the roads sector, as well as water and sanitation facilities for poor communities most affected by the typhoon.
