Training Workshop on OBA for World Bank Group Staff

EmailGPOBA held a training workshop on April 28-29, 2009 on the use of Output-Based Aid (OBA) approaches to improve delivery of basic services to the poor.
The course, which was attended by 17 World Bank Group task team leaders, covered the following:
- OBA in the context of development aid
- OBA core concepts
- How to identify if OBA is suitable
- Design, implementation, and monitoring of OBA projects, including fiduciary aspects
- Scaling up OBA
The training session was interactive with real case studies, exercises, and discussions. It was taught by subject matter experts, including task team leaders who are already using OBA.
A highlight of the course was the participation of two officials from Promigas, the service provider for the GPOBA Colombia natural gas project.
They shared experiences and lessons learned in coordinating and implementing an OBA scheme.
