Natural Gas Distribution for Low Income Families in the Caribbean Coast

Activity Objectives:

The primary objective of this OBA scheme is to connect an estimated 35,000 families to the natural gas distribution network along the Colombian Caribbean Coast. In order to qualify for GPOBA assistance each of these families must belong to one of Colombia’s two poorest socio-economic income strata as determined by the Colombian government’s Estratificación Socio-Económica classification.

This Project will subsidize in-home natural gas connections for 35,000 poor households.

GPOBA's role:

GPOBA will pilot a scheme to provide connection subsidies and foster a broader policy debate as to how to implement a shift towards connection subsidies.
