Project Expansion of water services in low income and peri-urban areas of Manaus

Activity Objectives:

Technical assistance funds were provided to examine how to develop an output-based subsidy for a peri-urban area of the northern section of Manaus, with a population of approximately 11,000 families (i.e. 54,000 persons). Outputs under a potential OBA scheme would be new connections made and OBA payments would reimburse a share of capital expenditures that would reflect investments in water production, distribution, storage and household connections.

Development Impact:

If the OBA scheme is implemented, GPOBA Technical Assistance funds have contributed to the design of an OBA scheme that will bring water services to 11,000 people.
