| Activity Objectives: | The project will assist the Mexican government to develop a strategy to optimise public funds currently being used to subsidise infrastructure investment. Through improved targeting of these subsidies to the poor and payable against pre-defined outputs, the proposed scheme would: (a) seek to set up an OBA Facility to provide wastewater collection and treatment to the poor; and (b) develop a poverty targeting mechanism. |
| Project Update: | Technical Assistance was approved by DFID |
| Development Impact: | In its first stage, the OBA Facility will comprise approximately 12 pilot projects across Mexico to test and fine-tune the approach. If successful, the Mexican government will consider allocation of an additional US$500 million to the OBA facility. |
