Output Based Aid for Health Services in Uganda

Activity Objectives:

The Government of Uganda is working with non-profit and private health care providers as part of its program to improve health service provision. GPOBA Technical Assistance funds helped to study outputs from a sample of facilities and sought to determine what impact a performance based bonus system might have on the supply, demand and quality of care provided at these facilities.

The results of this study are being included in forthcoming research publications which will help to enhance the efficacy of subsequent projects.

GPOBA's role:

GPOBA funds assisted in studying the effect of output-based incentive structures and also helped create modified contract templates for care providers which incorporate OBA approaches.
